The story of Kenny Everett wasn’t an overly happy one, which I expect is probably pretty well-known to people who grew up in the UK at the time. As a pre-teen Australian growing up in the 80s and benefiting from Ken’s huge popularity and a failure of the cultural custodians to understand what they were dealing with, I got to grow up hooting like a loon at his inventive audio-visual fooling around and absurd comedy. A sad read (though informative), and I’m going to keep looking in case there’s a better biog out there.
