What a piece. This started off as a straight sitcom about a fish-out-of-water soccer coach brought in to close the team down as a revenge ploy by a spurned ex-wife… but by god did it transform into something different. The hype’s justified, the scripts are great, and what blew me away was the way the developments of the story invested you SO MUCH in these characters that by the last season you were prepared to suffer all manner of mawkish bullshit. Could talk about this show at length. For me it’s almost a shame that this is how the incomparable Hannah Waddingham got her rise to fame, but I’m VERY glad she did because she’s just too awesome not to.
