We signed on for the high-end culinary ultra-marathon that is Great British Menu, and once again were astonished at the variance in quality levels and kitchen skill between the different regions. Also baffling was the way in which contestants were pegged to a region – you were born in Yorkshire but you work in London, so you’re Yorkshire… but you were born in a different country and work in London, so you’re London.
Overall though the skill, dedication and quality of the top echelon of chefs in this contest was a real display of Britain’s best. Just wish it weren’t such a lengthy dross-slog to get to that point. Hey ho!
